At the first CMTA’s Dolphin Odyssey and Teen Luau sponsored by Dralla Foundation put on by Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association, the participants will be divided into teams and will embark on a treasure hunt that ends at the handicap accessible van that will take them to their first adventure–swimming with the dolphins at The Miami Seaquarium in Key Biscayne, Florida which offers children with disabilities the chance to have a dolphin encounter. The visit to The Miami Seaquarium will also include a killer whale show, a shark aquarium and a manatee feeding pool. During a post-swim afternoon snack and rest period, CMTeen Leaders Bethany Meloche and Jonah Berger will lead a meaningful dialogue with the group about living with CMT. These conversations are often the first that participants have with others with CMT, giving them a voice about their CMT, making them feel celebrated instead of belittled, accepted instead of ostracized. Then the group will travel to The Ritz Carlton Bal Harbor hotel for dinner and a beach party. The entertainment will be provided by Ritz Kids, the on-site teen club, and will include dance music, games and activities geared toward adolescents and teens with disabilities.
